Later in the month of September

While the Art Hop’s bulk of activities take place during the first full weekend in September, we also have other events during the month…

What: What’s it worth to you? And others!
Where: Champlain Elementary School Gymnasium, 800 Pine Street,
When: Saturday, September 15, 10AM to 4PM, rain or shine

SEABA, The Vermont Gemological Laboratory and the VT/NH chapter of the American Society of Appraisers present this daylong event so that you can better understand the business (and pleasure) of appraising. Discover the excitement of rare antiques and treasures across several disciplines by some of New England’s finest valuation in personal property experts. Learn about everything from the conflict diamond debate to how to care and properly insure your fine art to how to choose a qualified appraiser.

  • Kennon Young, GG, CBJT is the owner of the Vermont Gemological Laboratory in Burlington, VT. He is a gemologist, certified bench jeweler, and gems and jewelry appraiser. Kennon will speak on how to choose a professional appraiser, diamonds and colored stones, the jewelry marketplace and how to care for your jewelry.
  • Judith Vance, ASA will speak on properly insuring your fine art, caring for your fine art, fakes on the market, and buying art smart.
  • Raymond Hogue, ASA will speak on business valuation basics, including a broad overview of the dynamics underlying the valuation of a business.

A decorative arts appraiser will speak on the antiques markets, how to spot a fake and how to properly insure your antiques and decorative arts.

This event is free and open to the public. A small-recommended donation (deductible) will go directly to the Champlain Elementary School’s art department. For more information contact 802.862.6600.
